Hi everyone,
The next challenge is an oldie but a goodie that we have't had for some time now! All you have to do is post a photo of a part of a bird (close-up) and then let the guessing game begin. We won't set any rules on this one in order to keep it moving, but to give everyone a chance to participate, try to hold off on posting if you've just had a guess or put up a photo. Just make sure we've correctly guessed the last bird before a new one is posted. Let the fun begin!
Cheers,
Monica
This is probably too easy... who's taking a bath?
Red Wattle bird?
Rob.
Nope but close. Even more common, you can see a bit of its bill.
Blackbird......
Rob.
Nope. It's a native. You were much closer with the wattle bird.
Noisy Miner
That's it!
OK, I'll play. Hopefully not too difficult.

Just to keep it moving, the environment is a huge clue

Reed warbler?
Well done and correct. Australian Reed Warbler
Sue
Guess what this is? A common songbird. This one is a female. The adult male has a combination of the brilliant yellow plumage and the black-and-white pattern on the head.
Grey Shrike Thrush?
Rob.
It does resemble a GST but has a shorter and stubbier beak (hidden from view in the photo). The bird is named after its singing ability and the bright plumage of an adult male.
Golden Whistler
Well done. Golden Whistler it is.
Immature rather than female from the rufous wingbars

Aiming for DSLR-quality shots with a bridge camera
You're right Ryu. It is a juvenile golden whistler. Thanks for pointing it out.
