I was glad to read about Andy and Adrienne's new find last week so I pulled this shot from my files. It's about as good as I've gotten of this gorgeous woodland bird just around the corner from my home in western Sydney. I do see them at this location from time-to-time, but they apparently have a home range of at least 50 acres, so good luck finding them every visit. :) I was actually telling Adrienne the other night that one of these landed almost within arm's reach that day as I was behind a tree photographing a nesting Dusky Woodswallow, who ended up losing her chicks, because in another tree some 20m away were a pair of Brown Goshawks nesting too. The hawks also annihilated a nesting White-plumed Honeyeater less than 5m from their nest tree. Buggers! :(
I post two of the same shots, one smaller because I cannot remember if 800 pixels high is small enough to fit the viewing pane.
I have never seen this bird in real life. Very interesting looking bird. Thanks for sharing. Nice shot.
I was born to live and I live to die.
Very nice bird and photo. The crest looks very smart in B&W
stunning shot akos. I have only seen this bird twice and it was tearing bark just like your one.
Cheers, Owen.
Hmmm... you're trying to outdo us, aren't you Akos? :-)
LOL that is just what I thought Andy!!!! Nice shot anyway Akos .... they certainly are an unusual looking bird.

Mate, mate, mate....What a superb shot of a bird I have never seen.....very striking bird and a bloody nice shot to....thx for sharing.
No Andy, that's not true at all. I am sorry. I promise to not post bird photos again! :(
In fact I've posted it for you and Adrienne to remind you how exciting it is to find a new bird. :) :(
Akos I think Andy and birdie are joking around - thats what I got from the smiley face :)
I know Holly. Thanks. :)
It's all good Holly :-)
Akos knows we were mucking around, and he was mucking around with his response too. But thanks for jumping in when you thought it might be necessary.
The three of us tend to stir each other up a bit for a laugh, but I suppose other people might not know that. So if anyone was worried: it's all fine.
(But I still reckon Akos was being a show-off. Hee hee hee.)
Just want to make sure my BIBY members are happy :) :) :)
Not true Andy!
hmmmm, is there a special day today??? Everyone playing nice? ( Akos, going soft and gentle?) :-) Anyway, nice CS- tits!! Haha! One happy family!

Great shot Windhover, another bird we haven't seen.
I reckon your a true sport Akos !!!! I don't suppose you could give Andy and Birdie a bit of bush navigation advice while your at it hey. :)
My my my..... are we having fun here? :')
Nothing wrong with my bush navigation Tassie... I found the CSTs didn't I? As for Akos showing off..... it is always a pleasure to see a well taken photo Akos ... maybe you will see one from me one day LOL

Tassie, I think you'll find that I was in no way responsible for our interesting navigational experience. So there. :-)
Lmao......I am so sorry Andy, I had a fair hunch that it was Birdie that corrupted you and led you astray :)
Might I remind you that if I had taken the correct road Andy...we wouldn't have seen the CST's in the first place :'P
I think you should go back on the open road... you obviously have far too much time on your hands these days! LOL

I am now not sure which girl had corrupted whom? LOL!
Sorry, BTW My navigation is at a price Tassie, not sure if the girls can afford it. ;-) But I will consider a discount since they are such wonderful (AND SUPPORTIVE) friends. :)
Thanks for the offers and suggestions guys but I can use my husbands GPS ..... I even know how it works!
Hmmmm ...I must have missed the memo about open season on birdies ;'d

Mate sure you get paid up front.......that way when they get lost you will have already received payment for your info....lol
Now there are people I'd love to take to the forest and lose, but I promise Andy and Adrienne are NOT on that list. In fact, I'd make very sure they'd get home safely. And there would be no charge. Hey Adrienne, your hub's batteries in his GPS would eventually run out and you'd need me nevertheless, or I am just talking crap (as always, again, still). LOL. Either way, no charge to you two ladies. :)
