Thanks Owen for the nice comment. I was very close, not more than 2m. I waited, hiding in the bushes, for a long time.Suddenly "he" sat right there infront of me. A combination of patience and luck.

I have heard that is the way to get the best photos - be patient, be quiet and let the bird come to you. You must have a good eye also and you do, M-L. I have enjoyed all your photos and I am proud of you for getting the hang of posting your own photos

Great shot Marie-Louise ...the wren is not the only one that has been hiding in the bushes ...you have been hiding your talents from us for far too long.... great to see you getting into it :')
I hope Owen is not feeling too redundant after all his good work for you !!
sorry, made a booboo!

Great photo Araminta, very good close up showing all the detail of the bird. I love the beak, it looks almost metallic.
this is the full picture of the same Superb Fairy-wren girl! She did let me get very close!

I think it's a actually a non-breeding male, the females don't have blue tails. Beautiful photo though, they never let me get any where near them!
Very good Araminta, especially the close-up.
I agree with Amateur, it is more likely to be an immature male with blue on the tail only. I have never seen blue on a female.

Thanks guys, that means, most of the ones I have in my garden must be immature males, because I see "blue tails" everywhere.M-L

Top shot with amazing detail M-L. I don't know how you managed to get that much detail on such a small and active target.
Cheers, Owen.

A great pair of shots, M-L. Such great feather detail! It's my favourite species and I'd love to get an image as good as yours.
