See the thread on How to put a picture in your message.
http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/forum/messages.cfm?threadid=0D28872D-BD77-C218-7FB35680281A8A9B#last

Essentially the photo already has to be online somewhere, you then get its URL ending in .jpg and then put the code [img][/img] either side of the URL in the message box here. Medium size photos work best - 500.

Hi Soakes.
Neither have I. They have been reported (on this forum, I believe) about 6 months ago.
Good images.
At first I wondered if they might have been soaked in oil, but clearly they are healthy birds.
Presumably "melanistic" genetic variation (roughly opposite of albinism).
Cheers

You are right Denis they were posted on here once before although I do not recall them being as black as these.
Unreal to see these Satchy, thanks for posting and sharing with us.

Thanks for your interest !!! We are excited about them !!! I found this information on the Queensland Museum Forum :

Black or dark brown feather colour in birds is due to melanin, and excess production of dark pigmentation is called melanism. Many bird species are known to occasionally produce individuals with extra black pigmentation, including Blue-winged Kookaburras, Laughing Kookaburras, egrets, owls, penguins, partridges and pheasants.
Melanism is usually caused by a genetic change and the genes responsible for melanism in birds are fairly well understood. Very simple genetic changes, sometimes even a single mutation, can produce radical changes in melanistic colouration.
Enjoy !!

Hi satchy, they're amazing....didn't even know you could get black kookas, I don't think they are as beautiful as thier laughing/blue winged relatives, but 10 out of ten for uniqueness! thanks for sharing.

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

ps when you next post pictures just put after the pasted link. Took me about 15 attempts before I got a picture posted but now it's second nature!

that didn't work either!just above where you type your posting there is a 'title' box and below that a 'body'section just enclose the pic url with the info for 'images' hope this helps.

heva - if you want the tag to show up you need to use a code /code tag either side of it - I edited your post to add these.
