Hi all,
I've never posted a photo before. I have a couple of good bird shots but want to practise before posting them. So I'm going to post a photo of my greyhound to make sure I know how to do it.

On flickr, when I select "grab code" and choose the bb code, this is what I get:

I know I have to do the thing - my question is: It looks like there are heaps of image codes there. Do I include the whole thing?
Ohhh... ok, so flickr seems to have put the square bracket things in? I didn't have to do anything?
I'll try a few more times, because I dont know what made it work that time.
Trying something different
Yee ha! Can everyone else see that?
Will try a few more... just in case
Yes, I can!! In photo No 2, you forgot to take the tag off, it's still attached to the dog's leg. How much was the dog? LOL

Ha ha, very funny Araminta! She was a giveaway... plus a $900 vet dental bill which the previous owner had said he'd pay for, seeing as he let her teeth get into terrible condition.
That was 2 years ago... I'm sure he'll pay the remaining $500, right? ;-)
Doesn't matter. She's worth more than a million bucks to me.
Glad to see them Andy..... and to know they have a lovely home with you!

Birdie, that was just one of them (Deanna). Here's the other, Lucy.
Hi Andy, are they rescue-dogs?
M-L
Yes Araminta. The new one, Lucy, was rescued when she was taken to the vet to be euthanised. The vet put her in a rescue group (with the owner's permission) instead of euthanising her .
My other girl, Deanna (black and white) was a successful racer and then was someone's pet for 6 years. She was advertised as a giveaway when her owner was going overeas, as he didn't want to take an old dog on a plane. So she might be considered a "rescue". I doubt many people would've been interested in a 12-year-old greyhound. (She was advertised as 12 years old, but was later to found to be 10.)
That is great!!! One of my neighbours has taken in 3 greyhounds. One has raced, one was so badly mistreated, she lost one leg.And the last one only has one eye, and was no good for racing. It looks so funny, when the dogs take her for a walk!
M-L
Finally we see photos of your gorgeous two :) My Lilly has a pair of those pink pjs but Patch is much more masculine and has to have a blue pair ;)
Aramita - my Patch is blind in one eye too so of course was no good for racing.
I must upload some photos.
So that is the Lucy that was responsible for yet another Birding outing going South ?? LOL
She looks lovely! This column is turning into a greyhound appreciation CLub Holly :')

They are great dogs birdie - make fantastic pets. I am going to jump on Andy's bandwagon.
This is Patch - he is blind in one eye after being hit by hail, we found him advertised FTGH and put him through the greyhound adoption program. Everyone loves him, he is quiet and calm and is great with kids.
This is Lilly - she was supposed to race for us and then live with us when she finished, but she wasn't very good and so she arrived a few years ahead of schedule ;) She is a total nutbag but a sweetheart - we think she is part lizard because she has to lick everything.
And just cause I can't leave him out, this is my special little man, Oscar my Italian Greyhound
and him as a pup with Patch
OH my goodness Holly....... you have three????
They all look beautiful. I mentioned this to my husband and he looked at me like I had two heads!!!!! Obviously he has no appreciation for greyhounds :'( Either that or I really do have two heads LOL
Sunshine Coast Queensland
Yep 2 big ones and a little one. Honestly the big ones are much easier than the little one - they are incredibly lazy dogs. A 10 to 15 min walk every other day is plenty of exercise, mine get a bit ramped up at about 5pm and they run around a bit, otherwise they sleep.
I am working on my husband for a fourth, I would love another Italian Greyhound but so far he is refusing to cave.
Gosh, if I gave Lucy only a 10-15 minute walk every 2nd day she'd go crazy. She would ask to go outside at midnight to toilet but would then decide that she actually needed to do zoomies, stalk possums, or dig holes... Generally, she gets a half-hour walk every day, plus a few minutes of fetch and tug, and a bit of training. She's almost like a "real" dog!
But yeah, in general, they're quite easy. Good luck working on hubby regarding the fourth dog.
Wow she is one of the energetic ones then!
I can remember when we first got Patch I would take him around the block and he would stop helf way and refuse to move. I must have looked hilarious trying to coax/drag him the rest of the way home.

Your hounds are beautiful. I love my dogs too, great to see others with similar passions! :)
cheers
Hi Windhover,
Thanks Windhover.
In a few of your posts, I've noticed your passion for animal welfare. Same applies to Araminta's posts. It's great to see that there are other people who are really interested in animal welfare.
(I'm not saying that other BiBY people aren't interested in animal welfare - I'm just saying that I've specifically noticed a few of Windhover's and Araminta's respective posts.)
Kind regards,
Andy.
Ditto to everything Andy said :)
They are my other great passion.
I also help out Iggy Rescue - a rescue group for Italian Greyhounds: http://www.iggyrescue.com.au - so if anyone ever gets the urge for an iggy let me know :)
...today I lost my beautiful Heeler "Napoleon".Life wasn't enjoyable for him anymore,(he had lots of lumps all over ), So it was the right thing by him, but a hard thing for me. It was so quick, he didn't even have enough time to finish his favorite treat... (there will be some rescue-dogs waiting to have a good life, just like him, with us!)
M-L
I'm so sorry Araminta. On the basis of your posts I'm confident in assuming that Napolean had a wonderful life with you. Hopefully as time goes on you'll remember the good times rather than the pain of today.
I'm sure that the next dog to come and live with you will be very grateful for the new home.
Email me if you're sad and feel like chatting about your dog.
Marie-Louise, you already know how I feel about your loss with Napoleon, and I hope you feel better soon. I think you should take your daughter's advice and save the little one from euthanasia. I am sure Ajanta will adjust ...and remember that even if he bossed her..she will be missing another four legged friend. :')
I thought I would add my favourite four legged friends here to, even though two of them have passed on now, I still love their memories
My German Shepherds were our family before my daughter came along ( and after!)
He was never far away from her once she was born
These are scanned form old photos so are not very good quality but these two, Pippa and Kaiser were a wonderful pair to have.
This is my rent-a-dog crowd!!! The Groodles are my neighbours beautiful crazy pups and Benji is my black and very patient birding dog! ... taken with my phone on one of our morning walks on the usual route.
I am about to take my laptop in for repair so hopefully I'll be back on line soon.

Araminta I am so sorry to read of the loss of your beloved Napolean.
Much love to you.
No more " ringing the bell" Thanks so much to everyone for your support! To make the decision to have Napoleon euthanased was easy, living without him is not! It was so fast, I had two of his favorite doggy-bones, he only finished half of them. (trust me being a Heeler, they eat fast). It will take me some time to cope better, right now, I can see him everywhere. Most of all, I will miss the ringing of the door-bell. Whenever he wanted to go outside,he rang a bell, hanging on the door. (none of the other dogs ever learned how to do this) Even with a bucket on his head, he figured out how to do it. I will take some time to pay more attention to the little dog, get some sleep at night, because I had to take Napoleon outside during the night, (up to 5 times), then I will look for a new dog. Thanks again, for thinking of me. Marie-Louise

I am very sorry to hear this Marie Louise. :( You need to remember all the good, fun things. A bit of a cheer perhaps, two of our three dogs (the two big beasts) have learned to nudge the key in the front door to be let out. We taught them very early. :)
Be safe, and get well! :)
We are so sorry to hear of your loss Marie-Louise, our thoughts are with you.
Hopefully you'll recover soon Marie-Louise.
He sounded like a wonderful companion.
On a lighter note those German shepherds are beautiful Birdie.
They are such nice dogs and faithful to their owners.
Cheers, Owen.
Hi Owen, thank you and yes they were beautiful dogs and a huge part of our family. we delayed returning to Oz from NZ until Kaiser was ready to go as we wouldn't have put him through the distress of a trip like that. He started his life with us in Perth, then moved to Queensland and then a few years later on to NZ. Pippa joined our family after being his foster mum at the Kennels where he was bred. We were working and didn't want him to be lonely during the day as he was so young. Such intelligent and loyal dogs, as you say. Marie-Louise knows (as I have told her), how hard it was to make the decision to euthanase when the day came. Pippa had died of heart failure some years before so we didn't have to make the call with her. I hope you are feeling better with each day that goes by Marie-Louise.
Owen, I am not able to have a dog at he moment as we rent our house, so the next best thing is the rent a dog crowd that you see in the last shot :)
Sunshine Coast Queensland
at least you still have dogs around the place to be with Birdie.
Cheers, Owen.
Ha ha..... yeah I am a "doggie person" that is for sure... I love them :')
Sunshine Coast Queensland
Birdie I love dogs as well. We have one standard poodle and she is around 8 years old and still quite lively. i also like Labradors and Golden Retrievers. Such nice dogs and very obedient too.
Cheers, Owen.
I'm going to try to post another photo because I've been mucking around with flickr settings. Once again I'm using this thread to practise (with greyhound photos!) before posting any photos of birds.

Sunshine Coast Queensland
Yay I am feeling up to taking Benji on the Million Paws walk today. Hope I dont collapse in a fit of coughing!! I may get trampled to death!!! :')
Sunshine Coast Queensland
.........that would be one way of making the 6 o'clock NEWS !!Have fun !
M-L
How did you go birdie? We took our three on the walk today too. They were all beautifully well behaved - we met some other greyhounds and Oscar, my iggy, who is usually very flighty around strangers was wonderful and friendly with everyone. They are all knackered now though - sound asleep in various beds throughout the house.
Had a wonderful time Holly...saw the greyhound people there and all the dogs and owners were amazing ....no dog fights and just a heap of fun. I will post a couple of pics here later...still going through them :')
A great community experience
Sunshine Coast Queensland
Thats great birdie. We took a camera too but it was too difficult to manage dogs and take photos at the same time. Our 3 got to share a Mr Whippy icecream and they were very impressed with that.
Ha h a..... Benji is on a diet but I ordered him a piece of buttered toast from the cafe near the river where we grabbed lunch....... they do it in style in Noosa you know!!!!
Sunshine Coast Queensland
Here are a few shots Holly ...Andy has already seen them on Facebook anyway :')
Benji
This Akita ( I think) was really chatty ..she loves to talk!!!
I have heaps of shots but I wont bore you with them here :')
Sunshine Coast Queensland
OK so I stuffed up again sorry about that!
