A galah had fallen off our tennis court fence and broken a wing (not from the fall). Two other galahs were bringing it food for about a week before it found the strength to flap/walk/hop away.

That is strange. Is it possible the galah was a young one that had not yet learnt to fly properly? I'm not sure about galahs, but with some parrots the baby leaves the nest too early and the parents keep feeding it.

I'm pretty sure it was full grown, it was adult size and mature colour...
