I regularly check http://www.eremaea.com/BirdlineRecentSightings.aspx?Birdline=7 for interesting sightings.
I was back in Qld on Friday evening so checked and saw an entry for Cotton Pygmy-Goose at Intersection of D'Aguilar Hwy and Mary Smokes Creek Rd . A good reason for a motorbike ride on Saturday morning after some birdng around Scarborough. But no sightings for me.
Now Sunday morning I go around Scarborough again and then mid-morning I scan eremaea and see an entry for Cotton Pygmy-Goose at Dowse Lagoon, Sandgate. That is about 15 minutes away so I have time to get there, hopefully see the birds, get back and then get ready for my afternoon flight back to Sydney.
As eremaea says they are in front of the Southerden St viewing platform but take your binoculars or spotting scope because there is not a lot of activity and it was a long 20 metres. I stayed for 45 minutes got 130 pics and on 1st looks there will be about 10 useable pics.
Wow, luck is with you. Only after some research though. You must have been blown away, I know I would have. Hurry up with the rest of the photos I can't wait.
Regards
Shane
