A bunch of old posts just arrived?

I had a whole lot of messages turn up early this morning, all from Tassie but dated January and March this year.  They were comments on threads I'd started.  Very strange.  Just thought I should let you know in case something strange is happening with your server.

Thanks kathie - I got some too as did another member (and probably more). I hope it was a one off glitch but I will have web support look into it.

I am pretty sure it is because he is deleting his account Holly .... I got  250 of them!  Strangely , you can still view the old post including his comments , but somehow it has generated an update to anyone who subscribed to the post or who started it.

He said he wasnt able to delete the account but something must have happened.

You will find George that Tassie has posted something on each of those somewhere and he has deleted his account and that is what is happening i think. It has caused a glitch somewhere. it seems to have affeccted any post on which he has commented at any time right back to 2009

Good to find this thread - I just got about 260 emails today

Tassie

Hi folks, I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have deleted every pic individually that I have posted in the last 3 years and 8 months of my membership and the "System" has sent you notifications. I am sure you all now that you can just delete your inbox and all will be good.
Take care its been a hoot and I have seen some wonderful birds from all over Australia on here and met some truly wonderful people on this forum.
Hoo roo.

Such a shame to see a longterm member leave , his really different Far Northern shots will be missed. We dont even have Ed on here these days either.

More than a shame Birdie it's just plain wrong that Tassie felt the need to do this because of the "holier than thou" attitude of certain members on here. We too dislike the direction this forum is heading, and as a result we are leaving as well.

I don't know what's happened. I've obviously missed it but am sorry to see that some have been upset and are leaving. That's a real shame.  I do enjoy being a part of this forum and have learnt much from several here.

Expect another influx of emails as Cath and Shane's leaving has generated the same thing. I have been a member for as long as Tassie and have made some really good friends on here  and am so disappointed in the direction it has taken .

Hi all I had a hole lot of emails from old posts to and did not open sorry but it did not seem right so if you post to one i will try to answer you

Hey Dingo...how're you going?  No there is nothing going to happen if you post on one. When members delete their old posts it seems that the system generates an update to everyone who has followed that post.

Sorry and just delete them from your inbox

Cheers

Somehow I never seem to know what's going on.

Can someone explain how this unsociable behaviour manifests itself?

The only complaint I have around here is the new layout of the forum posts.  They seem to have developed an annoying inner frame or something which scrolls independently from the main page content.  It is very annoying.

Soakes .... I couldnt agree more about the independent scrolling of the box ... it is really annoying ! So glad it is not just me then as I thought it might be something that the moderators have and not everyone.

Hey members, time for me to take my leave as well. Had I known about the option to cancel my account I certainly would have done so quite some time ago. This forum has been a great outlet for a rather unusual passion that does not exist with any friends or family, well certainly not to the extent of my own. To be honest this forum is actually the main reason I took up birdwatching in the first place, and while it is sad to farewell it, it has set my heart on something that I will pursue for my whole life, so a big thanks to all the members and Holly with BirdLife Australia for taking the initative to set it up and keep it operating. I have also noticed in other forums that I frequent the dropping off of older members and induction of new ones, however truly, both for this forum and others, it is not the same without the people who were there to begin with. This is not to say that the newer members are inadequate in anyway compared to the older members, or vica versa, but I think as human beings most of us tend do resent change and to want to stick with what and whom we know and was first there when we arrived as a natural reaction. Anyway adios friends, I have had some great experiences here and met, metaphorically speaking, some great people. I wish you all best of luck in your endeavours, cheers for all the good times.

Regards, Amateur.

bag full no 3 every notice for past years ,  is there a bag full no4 around the corner.

myky1959

there has already been a bag full no 4 but i guess no one noticed

i (myky50) left in July for the same reason it appears Tassie and Cath & Shane are leaving.

I'm 53 now so i guess i have been a member for 2-3 years

The sadiest part for me is not having anyone to share my excitement of a new bird in my backyard with.

My family aren't interested and for a while it hasn't been worth posting on here. You posts are ignored or made fun of or you are preached to.

I still come to this site every day to look at everyone's picture - it's all about the birds to me not whether your photo is perfect or has been made perfect (i'd rather have a bad photo than no photo at all) or about forcing your beliefs on to others.

Anyway i just got a bit upset when no one remembered but i guess that says it all

there should be no flood this time as that happened in July and this is a different nick that has no posts

myky1959, I'm relatively new here so I have no idea what has been going on, but I love coming here and often do comment on people's photos of birds and love learning about the birds. I'm sorry if I've missed your posts. I'm not here every day, but do go through as many new posts as I can when I am here.

Oh no.....what's happening to BIBY?? Why are people deserting? Please stay :0)

I was a member back in "09" but only joined the forum in May this year. I try to get on when I can ( when my PC isn't playing up!!) but I get so busy with the kids and life in general sometimes I don't get a chance to get online for several days.

I am sorry to hear that members feel this way or have been made to feel this way :0( sending cyber hugs to you all.

I am with Bill (Tassie), but won't go through the Tasmaniac trouble he has. I will just not log in or participate.

Bye.
