Nest webcam

For the last few years I have been building nest boxes. I have had Kookaburra's using some of my boxes and have installed a webcam to observe the activities in the nest. This has been very enjoyable and I would be happy to share access to this facility. If you have Skype add the contact karawarra.kookaburra and I will give you access to the nestbox. This year the eggs were layed a couple of weeks ago so nothing much will happen till mid November when hatching should occur.

Hi Ken

That sounds brilliant - can you give me an email at holly.parsons@birdlife.org.au - I would be interested in taking a look and seeing what would be involved to stream it here.

Cheers

Holly

That would be great if you could stream it here Holly. Ken, do you have any stills you can share with us here?

It says it's currently unavailable. Is that because it's night time perhaps?

I've seen this also. As I have just started using the eyespyfx service I'm not sure what this means or how often it will occur. I may go back to Skype where the limitation is that only one caller is allowed at any time but the benefit with Skype is you get audio as well

Have you seen the webcam the sea eagle people do? Not sure what they use but they have it on Facebook and anyone can watch it. They've had hundreds of people on there at a time when the eaglets were hatching.

First chick hatched last night - I've given up on streaming webcam - if you want to see whats happening in the nest you need Skype - search for Skype Name karawarra.kookaburra (don't forget the dot between the words).

Ken, that is so gorgeous!  I've never seen a kookaburra chick before. It's mum just up and left it, it looks like, straight after it hatched. You are so good building nest boxes. I wonder if we should do that here. We do have kookas that live here but I'm guessing they probably have built their own nests in trees around here somewhere.  We never see the bubs though till they're almost full grown.

Ken has been wonderful and uploaded the feed to UStream (EagleCAM uses this too). I have embedded it into a KookaCAM page on the BIBY website (eagleCAM is now streaming on BIBY too but one has fledged today!)

Ditto, I've been telling some of my friends about it and hubby and I were watching this afternoon.
