I'm a little confused, sparrow. Were you the young, slim sports photographer, the coach, the goal umpire or all three?
I missed it I don't watch channel 9 (or 7). I might have to find it on line. Or has anyone taken a photo of the little sparrow??
Can you put up a link? Please?

Didn't work I hate computers!
There has to be a spelling mistake in it? That's what my PC says. Try harder sparrow. My husband has seen it on TV, he remembers you. Says it was quite spectacular.

Hi sparrow...you did upload your photo didn't you? The image url appears to be straight from your pc.
I saw this on the internet! Country footy is very passionate.
Cheers, Owen.
NathenY my brother inlaw tried to do the link I still cant work out what he did !
Owen the country footy is very passionate the games are always full on and can be rough but you dont see many fights ,occasional scuffle or pushing and shoving but this was differant a coach punching a umpire dragging him to the ground and beating the -------- out of him the photo used doesn't show how bad it was,I took 150 photos that was the tamest,I have been covering the VFL and country footy for a while and am still shocked at what I saw.
I hope the police got your photos for evidence in the assault case, and the coach gets a lifelong suspension. Nice work sparrow, but this should not be part of our game.

I attended the tribunal hearing last week as one of the main witnesses, the coach only received a 7 year ban from any official duties, that was bad enough; but the big surprise of the night was the goal umpire also got a 2 year ban .
The reason given for the umpire getting 2 years was he was deamed to have retaliated for trying to defend himself ,these guys are volunteers giving up their time for the club and the sport and to rub him out for defending himself against a thug is just insane.
No wonder they can't find enough people willing to officiate at country games.
And I just heard the coach is appealing against his 7 year ban !
I'm still shaking my head in disbelief !
Thanks for this update - I often wonder how tribunals/judges can justify certain penalties and yet other penalties are so lenient it would be laughable if it was not so serious. Strange world we live in these days!

Interesting sparrow, what kind of tribunal? The same ones the big guns of the sport go to? Or are there different ones for country clubs? I guess, what the question is, are they made up of local people, that know eachother?

The hearing was in Horsham held by western vic football overseen by a AFL investigater ,most of those taking part were known to each other, although the coach and umpire had never met before that game.
There were 15 witnesses and after listening to them I'm convinced only 4 actualy saw what happend !
The appeal is being handled by the AFL and we all know how fair and impartial they can be.
I only hope they can see through all the B/S and hand down a sentence more fitting to someone who punches a umpire !
last update ,as I said the coach appealed the 7year ban ,I'm flabagasted to say he was successful in having it reduced to one year from coaching at weekend games but he can still coach during the week and is allowed to be at the senior games.
Which means basically the umpire who was punched got a longer ban than the coach who punched him !
Go figger!!!!!!
Go figger? What I don’t understand, the laws that apply to you and me seem to stop and change once players are on the footy field. In my humbled opinion, assault is assault, where ever it takes place.
If I would hit you, I’m sure you would take me to court?
Is the umpire suing the coach in a civil court?? Or is being assaulted " part of the game" and beyond the reach of the common law?
Thanks for the information .
