I don't know if you have noticed when observing these birds that they sway their necks as they are stalking. Like in your last photo, the lower bend in the next which hangs down would be swaying gently. I find it's a very interesting behaviour and I haven't noticed it in the other herons.
Thanks Brandon, I will have a good look at the photos again. Should be able to see it, I alway shoot a sequence of 4-6 photos in sports mode.If it's obvious in the photos, I will post them.
