Australian Bustard

Driving down the track towards Austral Downs from the Barkly Highway on my way to Lake Nash, I saw many of these birds, probably around 50, which considering I have only ever seen 4 in one place, to see 50 was amazing.

Hi Roger, how amazing must it have been, and how lucky are you to have seen it !! I wish I could have been there.

Do you travel for work, or are you just lucky to go places I will never get to? Anyway, thanks for sharing those wonderful experiences and photos of these interesting birds  with us.

Wonderful pics and a wonderful bird.  It is great to see birds we would otherwise probably never see, from places we'll probably never go to .

Nice shots of a difficult bird to photograph. The few shots that I have managed are of one running, then flying, away from me.

Cheers,

Hi M-L, I'm a Remote Lecturer in the NT, mainly north of Alice Springs but south of Katherine, so desert country on the whole, so I get to drive through some wonderful country as well as see some unusual birds. Cheers. (BTW it is Richard, not Roger.)

I've succumbed to the birding bug!

Sorry "Richard", I called you Roger before, will try not to do it again(?)

What a great job you have to see lots of wonderful birds I can only dream of.

Exciting stuff, Richard not Roger. The northern rains this year have clearly caused an explosion of wildlife. And I marvel at the technology that brings your wonderful photos right to my desk.

Great shots Richard, we have only seem them in captivity. We just love all your photos. We are still waiting for those lucky numbers so we can head up North. Thanks for posting such a wide variety of birds that we just dont get to see.

Always a thrill to see these, occasionally see them further north up around Tipperary station, on the big cleared paddocks. Nice pictures BTW!
