Australian Wood Duck Family

I had this family of Australian Wood Ducks visit me.

Didn't stay around for long but they are so cute....

I love seeing these, especially with chicks.  Seems a bit late in the season for such young chicks, doesn't it?

I think this is a pic I took in August, would that be more likely, Karen?

Nice picture, when ever it was taken. I used to have 23 chicks at one year, (and the next), all of them got eaten by a pair of hungry Wedge-tailed Eagles. Clever ducks didn't come back to breed the third year. I always wondered how those tiny chicks survive the fall from the tree, when they come out of the nest? Probabely because they are so fluffy and soft?

Yes.  Makes sense now :)

I've seen crows lined up waiting for a chick or two to break away from the pack.  Hate crows.

Nice one David, lots of fluff there.
