Australian hobby

This morning as I was taking my son to the school bus I saw what I thought was an Australian hobby on the power line. It was still there when I drove home, so I got the camera, drove back and you guessed it ... it was gone. I drove past again half an hour later and there was a pair! I took some photos from the car and then cautiously got out ... and they stayed there! I had a rapidly moving, 90% bright white cloud cover, but managed to get a couple when there was a patch of blue behind the birds. See how the first one has one leg tucked up? They are sitting like that in a lot of the photos.

It's true ... I have become an avid watcher of power lines! My secret is out. How lucky is it just to see them in the next street, in a suburb. I don't know why they were there, but I'm glad they were. Saved me my weekly trip to the airfield/river flats.

Great shots Birdgirl.
You always seem to get perfect shots. Very envious.

Agree with you birdgirl2009, we were travelling through the country and saw many BoP, unfortunately since I was not driving, pulling over was not an option, but they do seem to like power lines :) Lovely photos, nice birds of prey you've got up your way.

Thanks everyone. Lucky it is easy to watch power lines while watching the road - it might be a different story if they were off to one side or flying above me.

Reckless - I am the person who takes 129 photos and posts the best 6. My computer is bursting with ordinary photos
