Top shots Birdgirl..... remind me which camera you are using again??? Your lens does a fantastic job at that magnification , I only wish mine was half as good. I really struggled when trying to get the Osprey vs Maggie shots. the AF is as slow as a wet week so I had to switch to manual , very frustrating. Not to mention the coke bottle appearance that it gives at times, especially when combined with my camera shake LOL ...yes I know I should use my monopod .... but at the times that I take these things I don't really expect to find anything so just go for a wander half prepared.

Stunning as always!
birdie the fz50 that birdgirl uses has built in image stabilization something us poor SLR users have to pay through the nose for. She said on another post that she would like a top shelf SLR ,what the hell for!
don't mess with perfection!
No really you have a way of capturing birds that brings them to life,i look forward to your next post.

Thanks guys it means a lot to me to hear you say that.
I am slow to adjust to something new and spent the first 1-2 years only using automatic mode on this camera. I despaired of reading the manual because it was too long, too difficult to understand and only said this button does this, not 'if you want to photograph a bird flying in low light use these settings' etc. I had to find out what to do by reading photography books first and then referring back to small bits of the manual.
I won't give up the magnification on this one for a better camera - I really love getting the close up view - sometimes I don't even know what bird I am looking at until I look at the photos eg the juvenile black-shouldered kites.

Great set birdgirl you can't ask for any better.

A Photo is only as good as the eyes that look at it.

Birdgirl .... again... you need nothing better than what you have at the moment the detail and the speed your camera works at is amazing. I can almost see the lice or whatever that Hobby is scratching!!!

Amateur... if you are like me then you will have been unsubscribed from everything even your own posts. That is why I am going through and picking up the ones I want to know about. kind of feels strange to be a bee eater and not a catbird any more LOL especially when I hear them next to my window every day.
