Auzzie was a young bloke and a frequent visitor.He was the most friendly and gentle natured of all the male wild King Parrots who make themselves at home at my place.
One afternoon I slowly woke up from a snooze and it was incredible to see this vivid red and green colour fill my sleepy vision. For a split second I thought I was bleeding. But it was Auzzie.
He had quietly made his way through the open lounge room door and calmly perched himself on my upraised knee. I couldn't believe it.
He was very intently staring at my face while making a gentle throaty noise as he did it.
It is a moment that I will cherish for ever.
Sadly for me he hasn't been around for some months. I'm hoping he has just gone somewhere else to become a dominant male. He used to get picked on when he was with me by a full grown male bird I called Kingie, who regarded my shoulders as his territory.
Beautiful bird aren't they mate.
