For a living i run activities for the elderly & differently abled people, this includes various outings & stuff. Today we came across a Emu, believe it or not some of the people had never seen an Emu before.

Hard to believe, but I have to say it has been *many* years since I have seen an emu in Victoria. Does anyone know where they all are? :-/

I live in Stawell and we often see mobs of up to 20 feeding at the side of the road.
My stepsons partner 26 had never see one until they came up here, she had also never seen a wild Kangaroo,I find this very sad.
stunning photos mrtattoo!! (hair like that looks good on an Emu, just not on men over 55??LOL)
I saw Emus around the Cardina Reservoir on the weekend. But it is sad, when we walked around Lysterfield Lake on Sunday,we pointed out a mob of Kangaroos to people, they were very close to the track. Some people with children said, they have been walking there for years and never seen any. I think, sadly most people go through life with their eyes firmly shut!
We get Kangaroos and Wallabies on our property, they come in through the Wombat holes under the fence.
Question for sparrow:your stepson, is that partner No26? (or is that her/his age?) M-L

Great emu photos - they look as if they haven't seen many people recently too. Really close up and sharp pictures.

Hey Mt T ..they are great shots... and lovely to hear what you do for a job, I did my aged care training last year and found I had a calling for it ! Love to bring them smiles and joy :')
And yes, I believe many people go around with their eyes closed to nature too .... too busy rushing from the one place to the next with their heads down or plugged in to something. I think the ipod craze had closed many people off to the beautiful world around them sadly. I see runners and walkers all plugged in and the kids on the way to and from school...they miss the sounds of nature that are a natural clue to look.

Aaahh Araminta you make me laugh (is that partner 26?) :-)
Nice shots. Great mohawk, I wish I could grow one like that!
I have only seen a wild Emu once at Tower Hill near Warrnambool.
Cheers, Owen.

if your happy when your birding, flap your wings.
Our niece is involved in aged care in Wangaratta (Vic) and she also loves it - must be a very rewarding job.

Great shots.
Araminta - men over 55 usually have the fluffy bits on each side and none on the top!
You mean sticking out of their ears??
M-L
Yes, that too (and noses)
nice closeups!
