At last something special in my backyard

I had some great moments in my garden this week. Two mornings I woke up to different sounds outside my bedroom and these were rewards. not good photographically but worth the effort anyway

Those cockatoos are great birds, Birdie - you must have been pleased to see them.
How are your Rosellas?
I can now see tiny heads in the Heron nest, so hopefully some photos soon!

Hi Everyone and thanks for sharing my joy at finding these two amazing types of bird right in my backyard.

I don't know why but I am not receiving any email notifications from BIBY at the moment.

To those who love the catbird, I have been trying to catch it for a long time, he is the culprit who started calling at 4.00am over a few weeks. And as for the cockies dingo, I was blown away by seeing how big they were right in front of me. I see them flying over head at work, but they rarely come by at home so I was really excited. I knew it had to be something big by the grating and tearing sounds I could hear, I thought the neighbour's dog must have got a new bone or something!! :'D

It made my week

Lyn, are you referring to the picture of baby Rosellas in Ceekay's thread the other day? If so , then I have to say they were not mine, I just reposted the image as Ceekay was having trouble. It is Ceekay who is rearing them. I think the spammer must have scared him off from continuing to post, unfortunately.

Come back Ceekay if you are reading this, we would love to see your babies.

Thanks Birdie - I did realise that they were Ceekay's Rosellas, but somewhere got the idea that you had several nesting boxes in your yard too!
Also I posted a thread in "General" on the email problem - seems quite a few of us are not receiving the advices.

It's funny you should say about nesting boxes. I was given one by my family for my birthday a month or so ago, but don't really know what to do with it! we have mainly tall palms inside our boundary and I don't know how to attach it or anything. I will have to do some research about it.

G'day Birdie, I believe that you live on the Sunshine Coast QLD. You may be interested in my post in Surveys and Interesting Sightings re Yellow-tailed black cockatoos at Woody Point. Is their appearance at your place seasonal?

HI everyone,
Just got the notifications tonight. Didn't know I wasn't getting half of them!

They are seasonal I think as they are not here most of the time. I don't think we have the food that they like as it is mainly palms and rainforest stuff around my area.
