"If I were a blackbird ... tra la!"

Also shot this morning on my walk, the common blackbird, but how lustrous their plumage, and how beautiful they are.

Lovely sharp photo - the eye ring is pretty. I like the pose in the second photo and the soft background

I really think the common blackbird is quite beautiful in its own right, birdgirl. Although I'm wanting for experience, it seems that each species has its own special charismatic charm. If I've learnt anything about them at all, its how smart they are.

I don't care what anyone says there is no better sound than the blackbirds early in the morning, that is one thing I like about VIC.
I like the 2nd shot of the Male Tark.

I have to agree with that although the warbling of a maggie is also very nice, mate.
How do you know the 2nd shot is a male, Tassie?
They look much the same to me - obviously I wouldn't make a very good magpie and would prolly end up in a lotta trouble.

Mate I have to agree with the Maggie and then there is the Kooka's and Butcherbirds and so forth, but there is something about the Blackbird.
The Male as I remember looks just like that one of yours and the female I remember as being more of a brown colour and lacks the gold eye ring and beak.
I stand to be corrected as I have not seen one for more than 10 years.

Unfortunately Tassie, my hearing ain't all that hot. without my hearing aids I'm as deaf as a doorknob mate, which means that I hear very little of what the good lady tells me. My eyesight was restored only within the last year when I had cataract surgery on both eyes and intraocular lenses inserted.
She reckons that I'm in the grumpy old men's class, mate.

Great shots of the Blackbird, Tark. Blackbirds in song always remind me of my childhood and late afternoon walks with my grandfather. Although they do have a beautiful song, the best is surely the Pied Butcherbird. Thanks for sharing.

I have yet to hear and identify any of the Butcher Birds, but blackbirds do sound lovely to awake to in the morning.
Hey george, what did you think of my Valiant at "Black Currawongs" that you asked about! LOL
