I like to help this guy out every now and then with a bit of meat, I just feel bad for him. He's quite clever though, the way he dig into the ground to scoop up bugs, or the way he menoeuvres to catch a something flying by.

Soakes, I have no clue, I moved here a year and half ago and it's always been like this, can only assume something like a window strike
Just an update, this awesome guy (or girl) is a parent! I've even observed it feeding them despite its beak problems, how cool is that!?
