Gilberton, inner suburb of Adelaide
An Indian dove flew hard into our back window and then shakily into a tree, where it was immediately joined by the Brown Goshawk/Collared Sparrowhawk who had been chasing it. (I'm leaning towards Goshawk because of the fierce brow). We were expecting the raptor to attack it but the position was awkward and it just watched the dove from about a bird's length away. The dove then flew off with the goshawk in pursuit but probably not for long! But before that we had a great view of the raptor - a beautiful bird.
A good sighting.
sometimes the raptor can crash into the window after its prey as well.
Both goshawks and sparrowhawks appear to have adapted quite well to leafy suburbs in some areas, perhaps encouraged by the high introduced bird population.
