Have been looking for one of these for weeks - a Channel-Billed Cuckoo. Did not realise just how big the bill is until spotting this bird high in the trees at the Hinterland Environment Park at Mudgeeraba. Remarkable bird that is closer in size to a biggish raptor than a cuckoo. A first for me.

Crazy looking bird with the big bill and red eye - but attractive plummage. Nice photos.

Well done. They have arrived in Sydney now with a couple flying over Lane Cove most days. Have not managed a great picture like yours as they roost in high trees
