I have no pic as I have left my camera at my grandmother's and so did not have it today when I observerd a large black bird flying overhead, it was a warter bird like an egret/heron and I'm not sure but I think it was a darter. I only saw it from underneath and could see no other colours then black, it was not an grey morph eastern reef egret as it did not arch it's neck back in on itself (you know what I mean). And I do not believe it's a great or little black cormorant as it's tailed was fanned. I'm quite sure it's a darter but does anyone else have any other ideas of what it might be?
Your probably right amateur. The male is black, You can pick them by the shape of the tail when they are flying and also by the pointy beak.
