You just have to listen! I was just sitting outside, reading a book. Suddenly all the little wrens and fire tails started to warn and attack something. When I looked closer, I saw a redbellied blacksnake disappear into the shrub,it even made it's way higher up into the branches, to get to the birds. All is quiet now. I will have to keep the dogs inside, one got bitten by a brownsnake some years ago, but survived. Thanks little birds for the warning! Birds are very good in pionting out, where the danger is in nature.
I hear you Araminta!! When the large python came visiting the birds went berserk!!!! If it wasn't for them I would have missed some great photo opportunities!!!

Well, birdie, if the birds wouldn't have warned me....? I was sitting just one metre away from the snake!

Yes - the birds around our place go mad when there is a snake about - It's a great warning system :)
great for alerting you to a BOP in the neighbourhood too. I found a white grey goshawk in my garden once that way.

I used to get small snakes coming into my bird aviaries they'd take a bird and then get stuck in the wire on the way out,no forward planing!!
