Hi all, I am new to this forum and am a keen on starting out in the bird photography area. At the begginning of the year I bought the Pentax K100D super, I went with Pentax as my old film camera was Pentax and I could continue to use the same lenses. Has anyone had any experience with this camera and what lenses would you recommend for capturing bird pics as I am now in the position to upgrade at least one lens. Any advise would be greatly apreciated.

Gelmir, thanks for the welcome, I have been snapping away happily and have some great close ups of my dogs and cats but need a bigger lens to capture birds that are a bit further away. The Lorikeet under my name was taken with the Pentax last month on my front deck. I can get pretty close to these guys. I am actually cursing not having the lens I want right now as there are two Tawny Frogmouths roosting above the driveway, outside my bedroom window right now!!

Hi Sharon, I have started using a special camera designed specifically for taking pictures of birds as they come in to feed. So far it has been pretty good and i have some good shots. It is also weather proof so you can set it up and leave it outside.
It's not as good as a dedicated high end camera, but as a 'set and forget' it's pretty good.
