How long till the eggs hatch??

A pair of striated pardalotes have made a nest in the base of one of my hanging self-watering baskets (in the water reservoir) which has resulted in me removing the plant and covering it all up with plastic to stop any water getting in, plus putting up a shadecloth in case it gets too hot in full sun, and an umbrella in case it rains! It really has become the Pardalote Hilton. Anyway, they have laid two dear little eggs in the nest. I'm just wondering how long it might be till the eggs hatch and the chicks are active, as I'll need to make sure my dogs are kept well out of the way before the nestlings start making their way out of the flowerpot.

Hi koalagrrl, I agree, with what Perthwings said(?), in my clever book it said-long-!! ,like two weeks!! As usual, Perthwing was faster then me!!! (hope one day to beat him)

Oh wow, thanks guys! I thought it would be much longer, and am glad to get the info as now I can put up barriers to keep the doggies well away from the area. I'll now be pacing up and down like a nervous granny waiting for the chicks.

I have seen the little mum on the nest, but I haven't seen her mate for a while. I wonder if this is normal and he leaves when the job is done, or if something has happened to him?
