Inquisitive Noisy Miners

ok we all know that noisy miners are inquisitive, alert and generally can't mind their own business but this is going a bit far... I have a galah and 4 budgies in my house, their cages are all against a large window.

Everyday a noisy miner will fly up (its a 2 storey house) to the window, attach himself to the flyscreen (there's no ledge, he just hangs on the screen) and just sits there watching in front of either the galah or budgies.

Firstly, he must have a good eye/ear to know they are there to start with.

Secondly, I wonder why he is doing this? Does he seem them as a threat, or just interested in them?

My galah goes abslutely nuts when this happens with ear splitting shrieks and displays yet the noisy miner is not fazed and clings to the fly screen until he sees me come to the window, then he flies off.

I find this behaviour quite amusing and would love to hear your opinions of the reasons behind it!

Hi Magpie,

Sounds like the noisy miner is just interested in your birds. Might not be too much of a stretch to say that he's enjoying tormenting your galah! Who knows why though... maybe he does it for the company, or just for fun ;)
