I am wondering if anyone out there knows where I can get pure strains of Star Finches?
Knowing that these dear little birds are highly threatened in their native habitat, yet quite amenable to captive breeding, I would like to do what I can to help conserve any of the 3 pure types.
Most that can be obtained from dealers are of questionable heritage and frequently carry colour mutation genes. These are of no use for conservation purposes.
I know that this forum is here to discuss garden visitors, but as bird lovers any of you may be, or know others who might be able to help me locate a few pairs.
Aside from that we should all be aware that these delightful and friendly finches are so highly threatened in their native habitat..and won't be around to make visits if we don't act quickly.
