Where is the best birding holiday location?

Hi my family are trying to organise a birding holiday trip within Australia, probably at Christmas. Any Suggestions?

Hi cameraman, if it was me... I would go back to Alice springs again (went there in June from the Dandenongs Vic). There is a great place called Desert Park about 10 mins drive from Alice, they do 7.30 bird tours with a ranger/guide from the park to help you spot and identify birds that frequent the habitat. The Park is large, with loads of info. on habitats, displays, nocturnal animals, different habitats and some 'natural setting aviaries' to wander through. You can easily stay the whole day there. They also have a nocturnal area for tours at night where you walk through a large fenced area with a guide spotting animals as they go about thier 'night business'.
Another great place for birds close to Alice is the 'Olive Pink Gardens' planted with loads of Australian natives it has many species visiting it.
If your into a bit of adventure book a trip to Uluru, we went on a 3 day one, that included several walks (again lots of birding opportunities)and slept under the stars in swags by the camp fire.
Wherever you choose for your holiday... have fun, take lots of photos and share them on here!

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

Good idea might see you there! Lovely friendly campsite is Fernholme. Check it out on the net and book early if you decide to stay there:)
