going through parramatta nsw and could hear them but not see them.
Not seen one yet, but they have been calling here in Townsville for a couple of days.

I was woken at 3am this morning by a screaming Channel-billed Cuckoo flying over my house.
They're back :)
I have heard my first koel a couple of times this afternoon (for the new season) at Bangor in Southern Sydney. Time to get out the ear muffs!
Have updated the koel survey - look forward to seeing the map updates for migration patterns.
I was in Townsville last week and I heard one. Amazing call! A bit annoying, but I got used to it.
Didn't see one though.

Hi Folks, since Monday I have heard Koels in Nebo,Dysart and Mackay QLD. I have not seen or heard a Channel Bill yet.
What does the call sound like?
Sunshine Coast Queensland
I have no sound working at the moment but the description on the id pages sound like what I've been hearing around here. A loud kind of coooeee but it it a coo-woo. Does that sound right?
CooWOO! sounds right to me... and building up in intensity and pitch until the bird sounds quite insistent!
