Golf anyone?

The local Australian Raven is one smart bird, i have observed him for quite a while now.

He brings slale bread (no idea where from) to my neighbours bird bath to soften it before eating it, but for the last couple of weeks he is bringing back golf balls (I think he thinks they are eggs).

After trying to break them open he then goes to bury themsurprise

My neighbour has collected over 20 in the last 2 weeks. ( there is a golf course nearby)

Great Photos rawshorty. what camera/ lens do you use?

Maybe you could train him to exchange golf balls for a food reward.

So the birdy didn't get a birdie, it turned it into a fried egg instead?  I know, *groan* - and I had to look up golfing terminology to be that bad too, lol.   That's almost on par with the old story of the snake up in QLD (I think?) that swallowed a golf ball thinking it was an egg.   Great shots & very interesting obs btw Shorty  yes.

He would want to watch out, some golfers are pretty fanatical about their game. I cannot imagine what they would be like after seeing a Raven take their ball from a nice lie on the green. I find the thought most amusing, and the photos.

LOL thanks, Ruby. Looks like i had a better round than the Raven on the weekend getting 2 Eagleswink

Richman, i can hear them on the course "but you saw my ball was on the green" ... "sorry mate looks like you lost your ball, so you will have to take a drop"laugh

It's not just from the green they steal them from.

I watched the ball I'd hit climb nicely & was shocked to see a Raven swoop in & take it in mid flight.
