ID doves please

Hi, I am new to bird identification and my neighbor found two fledging doves after some recent garden renovations. They were in a pittosporum bush in a nest made of sticks etc. I would like to know what sort of dove they are. Thank you.

Not an expert and no info on where this is from but I'm thinking Friarbird maybe Silver-crowned.

Hi brighid. A location might well help with identification.

Thanks for that Rick N. I'm no expert either, but I'm pretty sure the birds are doves of some sort.

The birds are from Southern Highlands NSW.

I'd think its a young Turtle Dove. Do you get Spotted Turtle Doves there?

Neighbor thought she saw the parent bird and showed me a pic of a peaceful dove. However, she is even less bird savvy than i am, so taking her identification with a grain of salt. I was thinking either peaceful dove or turtle dove. Either can be found here (according to location maps), but I'm not sure if either species are actually around here.

Think Peaceful doves would have barring on its chest by that age. Spotted Turtle Dove would be my most likely.

Cheers

We occasionally get spotted turtle doves nesting in our suburban backyard garden. That makes my more inclined to think spotted turtle dove based as you too found them in your backyard.  . Based on the nests in our backyard there nests are normally scrawny if that at all helps. Spotted turtle doves are very common too and aren't native birds either and they tend like populated areas When compared to the native peaceful dove. I'm no expert though haha.
