hi i was just wondering if anyone can tell me what type of bird this is that is living in our backyard. he is only a baby but has gotten quite a lot bigger in the last 2 weeks. he has quite long legs and a long beak and is mostly brown but has some stripes and spots on his head and body. he also appears not to fly - hangs around our chickens and near our bins and in the gardens but always runs away when we come near - never flies. we live on acreage on brisbane's northside. sorry pics are not very clear but this is as close as i can get to take a photo.
