Nice ones, rawshorty. Latham's snipe isn't a species seen often. Not by me, anyway.

Don't care what kind of snipe it is,( just joking), those photos are brilliant.

Thanks Woko it was my first sighting but they were here again today.

Thanks M-L. I must say i love looking at the pics you put up on here, always exceptional.

Thanks Peter. I have lived in Canberra most of my life and i must say it has a lot going for it. If you do come i suggest Springtime, best weather at that time.

Here is a 4 shot pano of part of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands (best viewed at full size on flickr) Taken from one of the hides and showing 2 more hides on the left. We need rain though, it has dried up a lot since i first went there 2 weeks ago.

Love the habitat shot, rawshorty. It looks very diverse.

If the wetland is drying out is it attracting small waders?

Thanks Woko, as i am new to birding all i can say is there are a lot of small birds around. So far i have seen Spotted Crakes, Black fronted Dotterals and Buff banded rails (and other birds i have not looked up yet) but the larger birds like the spoonbill have moved on. I will keep going there as i can and see what i can find.

Thanks rawshorty. The shallow water & mud in drying wetlands provide great habitat for waders such as the species you've mentioned.
