I was very surprised to see this Red Rumped Parrot at the local park, with the group doing a census survey of the Greenway that goes through the park. I have never seen one there before, Inner West Sydney, (although I am told that there are a lot of them seen further south at the Cooks River.)

Thanks Sue i h ad thought it may be an escapee but some more experienced people said that it was more likely to be a wild bird

Yes, a wild bird more likely. I have seen them near Lake Belevedere in the Sydney Olympic Park area. It is surprising the variety of birds to be seen around Sydney if you just keep looking.
