I had read on Eremaea about a sighting of a Black Bittern and have visited this spot several times but still no luck with the Bittern.
Having been there so many times now I almost know exactly where to go to see the different species. Or so I thought...
Glossy Ibis keep their distance but are not uncommon.
Comb-Crested Jacana's are a regular here.
Magpie Goose coming in to land are regular visitors.
Mistletoebirds are everywhere at the moment.
Brown Goshawk. Takes me to 277 Australian birds photographed.
Stunning photography !

Great photos ... jacana is an amazing looking bird.
Thank you Reflex, truly wonderful shots
I love the Magpie Goose on final landing approach - flaps down, gear down - just like a jumbo jet.
Beautiful beautiful photos.
Aren't those wetlands precious!!!
Seems like a great spot. Glossy Ibis and the Jacana would be new for me.
Best of luck with your quest to spot the Black Bittern!

Great shots!
Where are these Wetlands. I've googled and have both a NSW and NT Wetland by that name? Photos are just brilliant.
Woops was searching Sandy Creek not camp. OK found them now.
If you have a GPS use these co-ordinates.
27°26'04.2"S 153°08'54.4"ESamford Valley Qld.
There was another birdwatcher about 50 metres behind me that missed it but we both photographed it as it flew back over our heads not five minutes later.
Samford Valley Qld.
easier to find if you google Sandy Camp Road

Thanks Reflex and Pacman
Definately a great set Reflex. Love the Glossy Ibis shot. Considering other Ibis are not phased by people, these are really flighty. I will have to go back again soon.
