Did a quick loop around the Buntine and Buchanan Highways in the NT with a little bit of the Victoria Highway. This is a selection from the drive. Hope you enjoy.

What a great selection here, I'm impressed with the northern rosella.
I have noticed that you put a link to the striated pardalote and looking at the photo I think it is a red browed pardalote.
Hi Headsie, My understanding is that the red-browed has the normal look of a striated, but has the spots of the spotted pardalote on the top of its head, which these guys didn't. Always happy to be proven incorrect though as bird-watching is always a learning experience. Thanks for the comments. The Northern Rosellas were a nice surprise, at least one pair hung around the camp area. Cheers, Richard

Try not to have too much Red cordial, you'll be bouncing off the walls.
WOW! What a great selection of birds, Richard. The Varied Lorikeets would have been a tick for me. Have yet to see any despite being in suitable country a few times. One day.....

Thanks for the comments above from all of you. I would encourage everyone to get up to A) Kakadu and B) the Victoria River District oh and if you've still got time and money there is always El Questro Station and Parry Lagoons just up the road north of Kununurra, escape the cold and follow that birding dream!
