Bird of Prey in my garden

This morning I was stunned to "just miss" a photo opportunity again right in my own backyard. I had been making my daughter's lunch and listening to the raucous squawking outside of the noisies and a few other birds. I had to finish what I was doing so I rushed outside afterwards and couldn't see them up in the trees but they were really going off. Suddenly a large bird swooped up into the tree next to me and stared at me with it's big yellow eyes!!! I was so stunned that it took a minute for me to realise that it wasn't a pigeon but rather the cause of the commotion. Of course I hadn't taken the camera with me had I? We stared at eachother while I recovered and then it took off next door followed by a tribe of smaller birds .
It was either a brown Goshawk or a Collared Sparrowhawk but I really couldn't say which one.
No picture but a wonderful moment for me - up close and personal! a first for me.

Cheers

Hi Bushy
Yes that was cool for me. Same thing happened to me this morning but no noisy warning. I was out their looking for a spectacled monarch that i know is around , when suddenly a green catbird flew down and looked at me from the same branch. I had a camera with me but once again I got such a shock that the first shot was way too late. i followed it round a bit and will post a shot tomorrow if I get time. It was pretty shy and kept hiding !

Cheers

I suppose that's how it goes in bird/wildlife photography. We've all been there and we'll all go there again I reckon.

ah but you have the memory and no-one can take that away Birdie ...

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

That's true, and sometimes you just have to live that moment and forget trying to catch it in immortality!!
