Koel in Hobart??

Would everyone think I'm insane if I said (living in Hobart), that I was convinced I heard a male Eastern Koel calling this morning??!!
I grew up in Qld and immediately assumed that's what it had to be, I can't imagine anything else sounds anything like that weird, ascending call they have...? Haven't heard or seen them down here before, normally one of the sounds I look forward to when I return home over xmas!
As could be expected, I raced outside with camera and binoculars ready to pursue (after hearing the call 4 times and having a mental struggle with myself not believing what I was thinking I was hearing!), and I didn't hear another peep... Will be keeping my ear out with camera at the ready over the next few days...
Scott.

That might be a first, ScottTas, & worth reporting to The Atlas Of Australian Birds People. It's expected that global warming will influence the distribution of all sorts of animals but I guess there could be other reasons for what you've heard such as an escapee, not that I'm aware of many people keeping koels captive.

Has there been any follow up on this posting? Would be very interested to know how far south the Common Koel reaches in Australia.

Haven't heard or seem him again. Maybe I was just crazy... I'll still keep listening!
Cheers,
Scott.
PS - from what I've read, Koels don't make it this far south, but vagrant CBC's can...
