Migration question

Hello all! I wasn't sure where to post this question but I thought sightings was pretty accurate so here I am. I am heading off to Japan at the end of the month and was wondering if any Aussie birds are known to migrate to that area? We have a few birds that are summer regulars and migrate great distances in the winter and thought maybe it might be the same for your birds. Also, if any of you have ever been to Japan I would love some insider information:) Thanks so much!

Hi,I'm pretty sure the Latham's snipe travels between Australia and japan in some older books it's even referred to as the Japanese snipe ,there would have to be others maybe if you, i hate this word , Googled migratory birds of Japan
and see what comes up. cheers.

How right you were about googling-how could I have forgotten to do that? Information about little terns came up which led to an article on JAMBA-an agreement between Japan and Australia on the commitment to protect migratory birds between the two countries. I learned that Towra Point is extremely important in this mission of protection. What was incredibly disapointing to me was to learn how close I was to this preserve and had no idea about its existence. How absolutely wonderful it would have been to visit!

Not exactly what I was looking for but I wanted to share in case some of you were not aware of the amazing opportunity this reserve appears to be.
