The humble Sparrow is not so common around here any more since the common Myna have moved in they are a big pest.

We have been in our home now for 25 years - during which I have kept a record of the birds spotted in our yard - it has been interesting to see how the bird arrivals have changed, and the 'Pecking Order' that has been established. We have never had a sparrow in all that time! Obviously some of the bigger birds have them spooked.
Also - friends rescued a injured sparrow and when they tried to release it once it had healed, it returned time and time again to the cage. Obviously knew when it was onto a good thing! They kept it as a pet for years - it behaved much like a budgerigar!!

I love sparrows, I know that they can sometimes annoy people (like at Cafe's) but I like them personally, I think they are cute!!
