Thornbill?

This little bird about the size of a finch came to the birdbath right on sunset in gympie, qld

vaguely looks like a thornbill? not much to go on, no striking markings.

Perhaps an immature White-throated Gerygone?

Thanks Ryu, yes I was thinking it could be a Gerygone.

I also agree with Ryu for WTG. I think lack of striations & red eye rules out thornbills.

Apparent lack of white in the undertail, & white eyering favours Fairy Gerygone.

You know I had a quick look at Fairy Gerygone but for some reason didn't think it fit. But with what you mentioned Steve I looked again and you are right. The lack of white on the tail and the white eye ring are a match. Thats what I love about this site. You learn something every day!
