I am from Sydney but a bit far from the Blue Mountains but we can make it there in a Weekend trip. I'd love to go into the wild sometime soon to a location where Barking Owls commonly live to hear their famously documented 'screaming woman' call. Usually they do this around March - April in Autumn time.
I can't find anything on the internet about this for some reason but I have a few local Australian books about Owls but they mainly visit places like Victoria, SA and Queensland, like the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton. At the moment that's miles away and I don't see any chance of having a holiday up there anytime soon.
I'd love to document it and try to actually listen to the spine chilling 'h-e-l-p' call msyelf, and hopefully even try to record it and be there to witness them doing this.
I don't think their wails have been recorded before.
Any help or locations around Sydney will be appreciated, thanks.
