White-Bellied Sea Eagle

We have been on Stradbroke Island this weekend. There were 3 white bellied sea eagles that we saw alot of. One dropped a primary wing fether which is currently my sons number one favourite thing

Such a beautiful bird! I can completely understand your son's excitment with the feather, that's not something you find everyday :)

Thank you for sharing!

Would love to see one of these. I'm a bit jealous, well done!

Great shot and always a pleasure to watch these majestic birds glide on the air currents.

It's like having a new car, once you get to see one, you will notice more of them around.

I find that for a lot of birds. For example I had never seen a Nankeen Night Heron in the 18months I had been seriously birding. I saw one, then the very next day at a totally different location I saw 2 more. What are the chances.

I've definitely noticed the same. It's usually just as the frustration is beginning to eat away at you that the floodgates open. Still yet to spot a NNH, and I think a sea eagle is going to take a purposeful trip or two.

My particular problem is always coming across the birds on the one day I don't bring the camera. But I think we all have that issue, too!

A sea eagle is one that I'd be excited just to see, photos or no. I still get a juvenile kick out of seeing the big raptors. Can certainly understand cat.cornwall's son claiming that feather.
