On tonight's TV news (I won't say which channel for fear of embarrasing myself) there was an item, complete with film footage, of white-browed woodswallows nesting in the top of a rain guage. Three or four young ones were already present nestled in the top of the guage.
Needless to say a TV camera was poked in the nestlings' faces but the owners of the guage have sensitively re-organised their daily lives for the time being so as to minimally disturb the birds.
This event is happening in Ceduna, SA where, fortunately, it doesn't rain all that often.
Good to see that the rain guage is being put to good use then.
