I am loathe to post this as not much info and no photo (I tried!).  But I came across a little bird in my llocal bush regeneration area Leichhardt Sydney, that i have never seen there before (I do see a number of little bush birds around but not this one before). so quite unusual.  It was a slender little bird, rather than the rounder shape of a wren, with definite yellow around neck area and white underparts.  I have not  been able to find a picture that matches.

I presume this bird was about the size of a Fairy-wren but can you provide a little more information, oconnore? E.g., where in the vegetation structure was it? What was it doing? Was it with any other bird species?

Could it possibly be one of these honeyeaters: Yellow-plumed, Fuscous, or Grey-Fronted?

I have seen yellow plumed honeyeaters in the vicinity but only flying around very large eucalypts. But it is possible. The yellow colouring blended in, no a definite stripe or streak. This is an area of quite densely planted understory and not very tall trees and bush.  It was moving around in the canopy from tree to tree, but it didn't fly off for quite a while, so it wasn't a flighty little bird.

Sorry I know it's not much to go on!  a bit of a myster, i hope to see it again.

Thanks!!
