Is it a Red Rumped Parrot?

I see this bird in my inner Melbourne park.  It is a parrot of some kind. Similar size to the rainbow lorrikeets that also live around here.   I have presumed it is a Red Rumped Parrot.  It is a ground dweller, with rich blue-green colouring.   I have not particularly noted the red rump, but that may be my oversight  rather than it is not there.

As the bird leaves the ground the tail is spread in a elegant fan shape which is longer in the middle with a  distinctive white spot on the end of each feather.  I have been looking at  photos of Red Rumped Parrots on line etc,  but there are not white spots!

Can anyone help?

Could you describe where on the bird the blue was and where the green was? Also, was there any yellow, and was there and red.

My thought would be maybe Eastern Rosella, as the Rosella's have a very noticeably fanned blue tail, with white spots at the end of the feathers. Also, they like urban areas. But your colour description doesn't really match it, so I'm not certain.

Hi meg.orton, there certainly are lots of Red-rumped Parrots around the Inner City Parks in Melbourne. These  photos were taken around Albert Park Lake. Did your birds look like that? You can see the red rump.
