Just back from a long drive for the Plains Wanderer weekend http://www.philipmaher.com/main.htm and also got a tick for Inland Dotterel.
The PW weekend is a full-on 2 days Sat 0630-1300 hours and then Sat 1500-Sun 0130 hours and then Sun 0800-1330 hours. However it is your best opporutnity to get Plains Wanderer and Inland Dotterel. I missed on Inland Dotterel last July on the Grasswren Tour and that travelled the length of the Birdsville Track.
The night time, Plains Wanderer and Inland Dotterel, pics were taken without flash but interestingly the PW pics were taken with handheld LED torches whilst the ID was in the spotlight beams. I might tape an LED torch to the lens.
I will add pics of other birds as I sort through but suffice to say an interesting collection of sightings included Australian Pratincole, Superb Parrot, Black Falcon, Orange Chat, etc etc
and on the way back home I curved eastward to go to Capertee NP to tick Regent Honeyeater. should be some good pics here as I was shown a nest.
Nice shots! I really like the second one...so many different patterns.

Plains Wanderer!!!! Oh, my, how good is that?! One of Australia's most endangered birds due to massive landscape changes & predation by cats & foxes, I believe. Sophisticated grassland management as well as cat & fox eradication will help this species survive.
yes, it was worth the 3400km drive
I understand that the tours have been going to the same sheep station for 10+ years; the landholder is a very good birder and was the 2nd guide for the 2 days - Orange Chat, Banded Lapwing, Bluebonnet, Diamond Firetail, Brown Falcon etc etc
