Bird of the Week Challenge: 28th September - Birds and their food

Happy Monday again everyone - great movie star photos last week, well done!

I thought we would do a theme we have done before - birds and what they eat. So person one will post a bird photo, person 2 posts something that bird 1 would eat, and then a new bird photo as well...
Make sense?

David, I use a Sony SLT-A77V, and a Sony 70-400mm G lens F4.0-5.6. Shutter speed was 1/1000 sec. ISO 125. I shoot all my bird photos on Continous Priority AE. (I don't manipulate either, sometimes I change Exposure Compensation in the camera before I shoot, that's all)

No prize for guessing what I love to eat :)

Araminta

Well, if I understand the idea of this challenge, the bird should be without food, next the food it eats + a new bird.

Correct me if I'm wrong. (as it happened before, some of you might recall, I was told....never mind)

Yep thats right ML. The intention is that one person posts a bird photo, the next person posts a photo of what that bird might eat, and then also a photo of the next bird - rather than a photo of a bird eating something.

So ML posted a photo of a pardalote - we are looking for something that a pardalote might eat - a photo of lerps or a small insect maybe?

Rick N
Rick N's picture

Pardalote might have a go at one of these?

Araminta
Araminta's picture

Rick, you should post a bird.

M-L

Holly
Holly's picture

Yes ML is right - Rick your turn to also post a bird that others can then use to post a food item.

Araminta

The bulk of the Tawny Frogmouth's diet is made up of nocturnal insects, worms, slugs and snails. Small mammals, reptiles, frogs and young birds are also eaten. Most food is obtained by pouncing to the ground from a tree or other elevated perch.

A young Masked Plover perhaps?
