Happy Monday again everyone - great movie star photos last week, well done!
I thought we would do a theme we have done before - birds and what they eat. So person one will post a bird photo, person 2 posts something that bird 1 would eat, and then a new bird photo as well...
Make sense?
A Spotted Pardalote eats........?
M-L
that is a stunning photo .Would you be able to tell me what camera gear and settings you used . many thanks.
Taken at Mooloolaba near the HMAS Brisbane lookout park in the early morning 27.09.15
David, I use a Sony SLT-A77V, and a Sony 70-400mm G lens F4.0-5.6. Shutter speed was 1/1000 sec. ISO 125. I shoot all my bird photos on Continous Priority AE. (I don't manipulate either, sometimes I change Exposure Compensation in the camera before I shoot, that's all)
M-L
No prize for guessing what I love to eat :)
Well, if I understand the idea of this challenge, the bird should be without food, next the food it eats + a new bird.
Correct me if I'm wrong. (as it happened before, some of you might recall, I was told....never mind)
M-L
Yep thats right ML. The intention is that one person posts a bird photo, the next person posts a photo of what that bird might eat, and then also a photo of the next bird - rather than a photo of a bird eating something.
So ML posted a photo of a pardalote - we are looking for something that a pardalote might eat - a photo of lerps or a small insect maybe?
Pardalote might have a go at one of these?
Rick, you should post a bird.
M-L
Yes ML is right - Rick your turn to also post a bird that others can then use to post a food item.
Hm, this is not going well?
M-L
Sorry about that, only just noticed this. Someone jump in.
Righto Rick. Here's an easy one. What would this guy eat.
Azure Kingfisher by robert, on Flickr
Rob.
Not sure about this Kingfisher, but a cousin, the Laughing Kookaburra (Kingfisher family), might eat a baby one of these
Wonder what this bird might eat
Dale Huonville, Tasmania
I'm sure he would enjoy a dragonfly
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Oops the dragonfly was for Robwill's kingfisher, we posted at the same time! I'm not too sure an Ibis would eat a dragonfly
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Here's a juicy frog for the Ibis, although I know they prefer fish and chips.
I'm really not sure what a Grey-Shrike Thrush eats?
Samford Valley Qld.
The Thrush eats, worms and bugs, but around my windows they pick moths.
M-L
You will have to wait a bit. Flickr is down. Back soon, I have a photo on the way.
M-L
That was quick.
What does a Boobook eat?
M-L
Here's a Horse Fly for your Boobook (I had to google what a Boobook eats).
Here's a Black-faced Monarch and I have no idea what they eat?
Samford Valley Qld.
Any insect they can catch?
M-L
What does Baby Tawny Frogmpouth eat?
M-L
Not many people are playing...
M-L
The bulk of the Tawny Frogmouth's diet is made up of nocturnal insects, worms, slugs and snails. Small mammals, reptiles, frogs and young birds are also eaten. Most food is obtained by pouncing to the ground from a tree or other elevated perch.
A young Masked Plover perhaps?
What do Brolga's eat?
Samford Valley Qld.
Maybe a frog?
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
What does a Little Pied Comorant eat?
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Possibly a Freshwater Crayfish
What does a Female Mistletoe bird eat ? ;-)
Pretty much the same as an adult male ..maybe just the smaller seeds/berries.
What does a Little Corella normally eat?
Samford Valley Qld.
the little Corella might dine with his distant cousin at my place
Hello David, if you don't post a bird for us, the challenge will grind to a halt.
M-L
and this little hawks eats...
Wow, that looks like a Grey Falcon. (if I'm not mistaken?)
M-L
It would eat a day old baby Eurasian Coot. His mother better keep an eye on the young one.
M-L
What does a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet eat?
M-L
In the wild the natural diet of the Scaly-breasted Lorikeet includes seeds, fruits, berries, pollen, nectar and flowers....
Now what would a Pied Oystercatcher prefer to dine on?
Samford Valley Qld.
Come on Oystercatcher, put your foot down, I'm after the same thing. Let's go and find some !!
M-L
Hey Oystercatcher, you weren't fast enough !!!! I got something !
(Back to you Reflex. Hope you have a sense of humour?)
M-L
Your Gull missed a Soldier crab.
What would an Eastern Yellow Robin choose to eat?
Samford Valley Qld.
An Eastern Yellow Robin might take on a small juicy Wood Scorpion.
West Coast Tasmania
